Job Purpose
Provide strategic leadership to the Electrical Section of the Water, Plants & Infrastructure Department within the Power Business Unit (PBU) - Energy. Oversee electrical engineering design for projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely, quality delivery through effective management of onshore and offshore teams, and coordination with contractors and partners. Drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and align with client expectations to support successful project execution.
Key Accountability Areas
Design and Technical Oversight
- Ensure timely delivery of industrial electrical designs that meet quality, schedule, and budgetary requirements.
- Oversee and optimize the design workflow to align with internal quality standards, project execution plans, and delivery expectations.
- Validate and enforce the application of relevant Project Technical Specifications (PTS), utility regulations, and international standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure the implementation of QMS procedures at all stages of design development, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead, motivate, and mentor the design and engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor the team on proper documentation of project correspondence, drawings, and other documents, ensuring compliance with the company's Document Management System (DMS).
- Identify training needs for section team members, working with the training department to facilitate relevant skill development programs.
Client and Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients to understand and fulfill their expectations, ensuring design outputs align with project goals and client requirements.
- Chair design meetings, prepare reports, and deliver presentations to stakeholders and project teams, ensuring effective communication of progress and challenges.
Project Support and Coordination
- Support the Engineering/Project Manager by providing essential inputs for monitoring project progress, controlling budgets, and meeting milestones.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines and functional sections to ensure seamless day-to-day operations and interdisciplinary alignment.
Proposal and Estimation
- Provide engineering estimates and prepare technical proposals during the tendering/bidding process, ensuring competitiveness and accuracy.
Professional Development
- Engage in continuous professional development, keeping abreast of the latest standards, codes, and regulations relevant to industrial electrical systems and project execution
