Costing Engineer

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled Costing Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing project costs, preparing estimates, and ensuring cost efficiency across various engineering disciplines. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of cost control methodologies, and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams to optimize project budgets while maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for engineering and construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
• Conduct cost analysis and evaluate project feasibility to ensure budget alignment.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, and procurement teams to assess cost implications of project specifications.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for budget optimization.
• Review and analyze vendor quotations, contracts, and procurement processes to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and report any variances to management.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and industry standards in all cost-related activities.
• Assist in preparing tender documents, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations.
• Maintain updated cost databases and historical project data to improve future cost estimations.
• Provide regular reports and presentations on project cost performance to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field).
• 5-10 years of experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis within the engineering or construction industry.
• Strong understanding of cost control principles, contract management, and financial planning.
• Experience working in a consultancy environment is an advantage.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.

Knowledge and Functional Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of cost estimation software and tools (e.g., CostX, Candy, Primavera, SAP, or similar).
• Familiarity with international cost control standards and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.
