Job Purpose
DAR Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Protection Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a leading engineering firm specializing in diverse sectors, we are committed to delivering innovative solutions that redefine industry standards. The Senior Protection Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical systems across various projects, contributing to the success of our client engagements for T&D projects.
Role Accountability
Responsibility:
- Design and development, and implementation of protection schemes for HV and EHV substations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Conduct detailed studies and analysis to identify protection requirements, coordination, and relay settings for various substation configurations.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate protection schemes into overall substation designs, considering factors such as equipment layout, relay panel arrangement, and wiring diagrams.
- Review and evaluate protection relay specifications, including selection and procurement of appropriate equipment from vendors.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, assisting in their professional development and project execution.
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to discuss project requirements, progress, and solutions to technical challenges.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8-12 years of experience.
- Good working knowledge on design of control, protection, metering and monitoring systems for LV/ MV/ HV/ EHV substations from concept design to construction drawings. Working knowledge on T&D functions w.r.t construction in coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- Working knowledge on control, protection, metering and monitoring systems pertaining to control & protection schemes, CT/ PT calculations, relay setting calculations etc.
- Strong Knowledge of SAS system, IED relays, IEC61850, and interface with SCADA and communication
- Familiar with relevant codes & standards – International electro-technical commission (IEC), IEEE, BS (British Standards), Regional Standards, Quality and Metrology Organization (SASO), SEC standards etc.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of design software – DIGSI, PCM600, MICOM AGILE, Envista, SEL, AecoSim, MicroStation, AutoCAD etc. Fair understanding of 3D tools, 3D modelling and DMS.
- Be passionate about protection systems and the power environment. Be a creative leader in design and project management. Have excellent technical skills and be able to mentor staff in their own development and the development of projects.
