Section Manager Protection

About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Section Manager Protection (Secondary Engineer) to lead our Protection Engineering team within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) division. The successful candidate will oversee the design, review, and delivery of protection and control systems for substation projects while ensuring technical excellence, efficient resource management, and compliance with international standards.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

• Lead and manage the Protection Engineering Section across multiple projects.
• Oversee the design and review of protection and control systems for HV/EHV substations.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, protection philosophies, relay settings, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable international standards (IEC, IEEE, SEC, SASO).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Support project execution during design, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Manage section resources, monitor project progress, and ensure timely delivery.
• Mentor and develop engineering team members while promoting engineering best practices.
• Support technical proposals, bid evaluations, and business development activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems or High Voltage preferred).
• Minimum +15 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution projects, with strong expertise in protection and control engineering.
• Strong knowledge of protection systems, relay coordination, substation secondary design, and power system studies.
• Experience delivering HV/EHV substation projects.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.

Knowledge and Functional Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems, IEC 61850, and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC).
• Proficiency in engineering software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent leadership, planning, and resource management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality engineering solutions within schedule.
