Business Development Engineer

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Engineer to strengthen DAR Engineering's Business Development team with dedicated focus on the Power and Energy sector. The role requires an electrical engineering professional with a strong consulting/engineering background, capable of identifying and securing new business opportunities across power generation, transmission and distribution (T&D), and substation projects, while building long-term relationships with developers and contractors active in the Saudi market.

The successful candidate will combine technical credibility in the power/energy domain with strong commercial acumen, acting as a bridge between DAR's engineering capabilities and the needs of developers and contractors across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the Power and Energy sector, including power generation, transmission and distribution (T&D), and substation projects in Saudi Arabia.
• Develop and execute a focused business development strategy targeting developers and contractors active in the power/energy market.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key developers, EPC contractors, utilities (e.g., SEC, NGC), and other strategic stakeholders in the energy sector.
• Monitor market trends, upcoming tenders, and giga/mega-project pipelines within the Power & Energy space (e.g., Vision 2030-linked power and grid infrastructure initiatives), along with competitor activity.
• Lead client engagement throughout the pursuit lifecycle — from initial approach and capability presentations through to proposal submission and contract negotiation.
• Collaborate closely with DAR's technical, design, and engineering teams to ensure proposals and pitches accurately reflect project scope, technical approach, and value proposition for power/energy clients.
• Support positioning of DAR Engineering across all project stages relevant to power and energy infrastructure, from planning and concept design through detailed design and construction supervision.
• Represent DAR Engineering at industry events, energy sector conferences, and client meetings to strengthen brand visibility within the Power & Energy market.
• Coordinate with the Bid & Tendering, Marketing, and Technical departments to develop compelling, client-focused proposals for developers and contractors.
• Track and report on the Power & Energy business development pipeline, win rates, and revenue targets to senior management.
• Provide market intelligence and client feedback specific to the power/energy sector to support strategic decision-making and service offering development.

Academic Qualification

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of overall relevant professional experience within engineering, design, and consulting firms.
• Of which, a minimum of 3–4 years specifically in Sales, Business Development, or Marketing within the Power/Energy domain.
• Strong familiarity with the energy industry, including power generation, transmission and distribution (T&D), and substation projects.
• Demonstrated track record of securing new business with developers and contractors as primary client segments.
• Prior experience in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred, with an established professional network across power/energy developers, contractors, and utilities.
• Experience engaging with giga/mega-project stakeholders (e.g., PIF-backed developments, Vision 2030 power and grid infrastructure initiatives) is an advantage.

Languages

• Fluency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Arabic is highly preferred.

Technical and Business Competencies

• Strong technical understanding of the power/energy industry — generation, transmission, distribution, and substations — enabling credible conversations with clients and internal design teams.
• Excellent business development, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with a focus on developers and contractors.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, evaluate, and pursue high-value opportunities in the energy sector.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent DAR Engineering credibly at a senior client level.
• Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, results-driven approach to pipeline development and deal closure.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical, design, bid, and marketing teams to develop winning proposals.
• Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and business development reporting tools.
