Business Development Manager

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand DAR Engineering's market presence across Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region. The role requires an engineering professional with a strong consulting background, capable of identifying and securing new business opportunities across building design, infrastructure design projects, energy (power & distribution) while building long-term relationships with clients, developers, government entities, and strategic partners.

The successful candidate will combine technical credibility with strong commercial acumen, bridging DAR's engineering and design capabilities with client needs across all stages of the project lifecycle — from planning and concept design through detailed design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across building design, infrastructure design and energy (power & distribution) projects in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region.
• Develop and execute the business development strategy in alignment with DAR Engineering's growth objectives and target sectors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, government entities, PMO/PMC firms, contractors, and other strategic stakeholders.
• Monitor market trends, upcoming tenders, mega/giga-project pipelines, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
• Lead client engagement throughout the pursuit lifecycle — from initial approach and capability presentations through to proposal submission and contract negotiation.
• Collaborate closely with technical, design, and engineering teams to ensure proposals and pitches accurately reflect project scope, technical approach, and value proposition.
• Support positioning of DAR Engineering across all project stages, including planning, concept design, schematic design, detailed design, and construction supervision phases.
• Represent DAR Engineering at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to strengthen brand visibility and market positioning.
• Coordinate with the Bid & Tendering, Marketing, and Technical departments to develop compelling, client-focused proposals and presentations.
• Track and report on business development pipeline, win rates, and revenue targets to senior management.
• Provide market intelligence and client feedback to support strategic decision-making and service offering development.
• Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions in coordination with legal, finance, and senior leadership.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) from a recognized university.
• MBA or postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience, with a significant portion in business development, client relationship management, or strategic growth roles.
• Proven experience working within engineering, design, and consulting firms (architecture, PMC, or multidisciplinary engineering consultancies).
• Strong familiarity with building design and infrastructure design project stages, including planning, concept design, schematic/detailed design, and construction supervision.
• Demonstrated track record of securing new business and building long-term client relationships within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) industry.
• Prior experience in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred, with an established professional network across developers, government entities, and consultancies.
• Experience engaging with mega/giga-project stakeholders (e.g., PIF-backed developments, Vision 2030 initiatives) is an advantage.

Languages

• Fluency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Arabic is highly preferred.

Technical and Business Competencies

• Strong understanding of engineering design stages and the AEC project lifecycle, enabling credible technical conversations with clients and internal design teams.
• Excellent business development, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, evaluate, and pursue high-value opportunities.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent DAR Engineering credibly at a senior client level.
• Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, results-driven approach to pipeline development and deal closure.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical, design, bid, and marketing teams to develop winning proposals.
• Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and business development reporting tools.
