About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this key role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies and programs to ensure compliance with international standards and local regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a strong safety culture and promoting continuous improvement across all project sites.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE plans, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with international health and safety standards such as ISO 45001, OSHA, and NFPA, as well as local regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Lead incident and accident investigations, ensuring accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and preventive action planning.
  • Provide HSE training and awareness programs to employees and subcontractors to strengthen safety culture and promote best practices.
  • Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to ensure that HSE requirements are integrated into all project activities.
  • Monitor and report HSE performance indicators, identifying trends and recommending improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving HSE regulations, standards, and technologies to enhance workplace safety and compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to safety management systems, including risk registers, inspection reports, and emergency response plans.
  • Participate in management meetings and provide professional HSE advice and support to achieve organizational objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in HSE within complex engineering or construction projects.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing HSE programs aligned with international standards and best practices.
  • Familiarity with international Health & Safety standards and procedures (ISO 45001, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) and local regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
  • Experience in developing and delivering HSE training sessions and workshops.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive positive change.
  • Strong report writing, data analysis, and presentation skills.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE qualifications is an advantage.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.

Knowledge and Functional Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of HSE management systems and risk-based approaches.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement preventive actions.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant HSE reporting tools.
