Job Purpose

 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Equipment Engineer to support the planning, design, procurement, installation and commissioning of medical equipment for a major healthcare project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The role will be responsible for developing medical equipment plans and schedules, preparing technical specifications, coordinating equipment requirements with multidisciplinary design teams, reviewing technical submittals and vendor proposals, conducting technical bid evaluations, and supporting equipment installation, testing and commissioning.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in hospital/healthcare projects, medical equipment planning, technical specifications, procurement and design coordination, together with a sound understanding of applicable healthcare standards and Saudi regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Prepare comprehensive medical equipment lists, room-wise equipment schedules, quantities, and equipment planning documents based on clinical and operational requirements.
  • Develop and review equipment layouts, ensuring appropriate space, access, workflow, maintenance clearances, and integration within clinical areas.
  • Coordinate with clinicians, hospital operators, and end users to translate clinical workflows and functional requirements into appropriate medical equipment solutions.
  • Prepare and review detailed medical equipment technical specifications, equipment data sheets, performance requirements, accessories, and installation requirements.
  • Coordinate medical equipment requirements with architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical, medical gases, ICT/ELV, interiors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare equipment tender documentation, develop technical evaluation criteria, review supplier bids, assess compliance, and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) reports.
  • Review manufacturers' technical submissions, shop drawings, catalogues, proposed equipment, alternatives, and technical deviations, and coordinate clarifications with vendors.
  • Support procurement activities and ensure selected equipment is properly incorporated into the final design, including all required utilities, interfaces, structural provisions, and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support during equipment installation, inspect equipment-related works, coordinate commissioning activities, review testing documentation, and support final acceptance.
  • Lead medical equipment planning activities, review junior engineers' work, manage deliverables and technical interfaces, resolve design issues, and ensure medical equipment packages are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with project and healthcare requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Medical, Clinical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in medical equipment engineering/planning.
  • Proven experience in hospital or major healthcare projects.
  • Strong knowledge of medical equipment specifications, layouts, procurement and technical evaluation.
  • Experience coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, clinicians, contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit/BIM experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, coordination and technical-reporting skills.
