Job Purpose

DAR Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect (Healthcare) to work at a major Healthcare Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) in Riyadh.

The role is strategic and governance-focused, responsible for developing, standardizing, and implementing architectural design processes, procedures, and technical frameworks across healthcare projects nationwide.

This position will play a key role in strengthening engineering governance, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, enhancing design quality, and optimizing project delivery across hospitals and specialized medical facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Develop and institutionalize architectural processes, procedures, templates, and design guidelines for healthcare facilities.
  • Establish standardized Design Management Frameworks across multiple hospital projects.
  • Contribute to EPMO-level governance documentation, including stage-gate reviews and approval workflows.
  • Align architectural standards with national healthcare strategies and capital development programs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in hospital planning, clinical zoning, and functional adjacencies.
  • Review and validate concept, schematic, and detailed design submissions.
  • Support the Engineering Department in formalizing the design review procedures, BIM coordination standards, change control mechanisms, technical approval workflows, develop structured frameworks for design risk management in healthcare projects.
  • Standardize deliverables and documentation requirements across project phases.
  • Interface effectively with clinical planners, medical equipment planners, MEP and structural engineers, as well as PMC teams and contractors. Actively participate in high-level coordination meetings within the EPMO to ensure design alignment, technical integration, and seamless multidisciplinary collaboration across healthcare projects.
  • Ensure architectural alignment with project controls, cost, and schedule baselines.
  • Lead technical workshops to ensure consistent interpretation of standards.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives in healthcare design delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
  • 15+ years of professional experience, with at least 4–6 years in healthcare projects.
  • Proven exposure to EPMO, PMC, or large program-level governance environments.
  • Experience working in GCC healthcare infrastructure projects preferred.

Technical Competencies:

  • Extensive experience in hospital and healthcare facility design (acute care, tertiary hospitals, specialty clinics, medical cities).
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Clinical workflow planning
    • Operating theatres & ICU design
    • Infection prevention & control design principles
    • Modular healthcare planning
  • Proficiency in BIM-enabled design environments.
  • Experience in large-scale public sector or government healthcare programs is highly desirable.
