BIM Structural Engineer

Job Purpose

The BIM Structural Engineer will leverage BIM technology to develop and manage detailed structural models, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements. This role involves collaboration with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to optimize design solutions and improve project delivery.

Key Accountability Areas

• BIM Model Development:
  • Create and manage detailed 3D BIM models for structural elements using software such as Revit, Tekla, or similar.
  • Develop and integrate structural design solutions within the BIM framework.
  • Ensure models are up-to-date and reflect the latest design changes and specifications.
• Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure cohesive and clash-free designs.
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and resolve clashes and discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with construction teams to ensure that models are implemented accurately on-site.
• Design and Documentation:
  • Prepare structural drawings, details, and schedules from BIM models.
  • Prepare fully reinforcement drawings and details for type of structural elements. 
  • Conduct structural analysis and design calculations to verify the integrity and compliance of models.
  • Generate and manage project documentation, including model reviews, clash detection reports, and project workflows.

Role Accountability Areas

• Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 2-3 years focused on BIM.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing BIM models for structural projects.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Tekla Structures, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and methods.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro) is beneficial.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
