Responsibilities
- Prepare project budgets and cost estimates in the pre-contract phase
- Track project costs against budgets through cost reporting and analysis
- Analyze cost variances and identify risks and opportunities for cost savings
- Forecast expected project costs and assists with cash flow management
- Review change orders, claims, and contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance
- Perform quantity take-offs and provide technical assistance on procurement activities
- Maintain cost databases and files for all projects under responsibility
- Develop and update cost management plans and procedures
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve cost issues
- Prepare analyses, reports, and presentations on project performance against budgets
- Assist in bid evaluations and provide support for business development activities
- Comply with company policies, safety standards, and statutory requirements
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering
- 3-7 years of relevant experience as a Cost Engineer
- Working knowledge of construction estimating, project controls, and cost accounting
- Proficiency with industry-specific cost management software like Primavera and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Eligibility for professional license/certification is a plus
