Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified and proactive Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Egypt Office. This role is responsible for supporting mechanical project activities, coordinating design requirements, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and overseeing mechanical systems execution across project sites. The Mechanical Project Engineer will manage documentation workflows, support material and design submittals, follow up on testing, and ensure timely project delivery in alignment with Alfanar’s quality and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support and oversee mechanical works across project stages—from documentation and procurement to testing and handover.

  • Coordinate mechanical design requirements and ensure alignment with project specifications and standards.

  • Handle mechanical systems including:

    • Overhead cranes

    • Firefighting systems

    • HVAC systems

    • Plumbing systems

  • Prepare and manage documentation such as DPOs, POs, PRs, material submittals, design submittals, GAFM, and track materials until delivered to site.

  • Prepare MIRs and RFIs and ensure proper closure in coordination with the client and project team.

  • Conduct and assist in testing, inspection, and system handover procedures, ensuring compliance with client comments and project scope.

  • Monitor progress of mechanical activities and coordinate with site teams for timely execution.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth integration of mechanical systems with other project elements.

  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and engineering standards throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning stages.

  • Maintain organized documentation and reporting for all mechanical activities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, project execution, or related roles.

  • Required Knowledge & Experience:

    • Familiarity with SEC standards; previous work in SEC substations is a strong advantage.

    • Solid understanding of mechanical systems: firefighting, HVAC, plumbing, and overhead cranes.

    • Experience with mechanical design coordination.

    • Knowledge of full project documentation workflow (DPO, PO, PR, design submittals, GAFM, and material tracking).

    • Hands-on experience preparing MIRs and RFIs, and handling system handover procedures.

    • Ability to comply with client comments and follow up until closure.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
