SECTION MANAGER, SAM

Job Purpose

To supervise the implementation of software asset management (SAM) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with license agreements and organizational standards. The role oversees software acquisition and deployment processes, monitors usage, and coordinates with IT teams and business units to maintain control, optimize costs, and support smooth IT operations.

Key Accountability Areas

Asset Management Strategy and Governance

  • Implement asset management policies and governance framework across the organization
  • Communicate scope, roles, and responsibilities to relevant stakeholders

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Monitor and maintain compliance of IT and service assets with business and regulatory requirements
  • Identify, assess, and report associated risks in the asset lifecycle
  • Coordinate with asset controllers, infrastructure teams, and business units to optimize value and ensure legal compliance

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy

  • Promote awareness of asset management as a tool for efficiency and service continuity
  • Provide information and advice on asset management issues to internal stakeholders

Impact Assessment and Lifecycle Decisions

  • Conduct impact assessments for asset acquisition, modification, retention, or disposal
  • Recommend lifecycle decisions in line with cost-efficiency and compliance requirements

Software Asset Management (SAM) Operations

  • Manage software purchases through a centralized process to ensure license compliance
  • Monitor license usage, renewals, and optimization opportunities
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions on SAM practices, licensing policies, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to recruit, recognize and cultivate high performers and expose them in order to create a robust second line of management.
  • Ability to recognize low performers and guide them to improve or release them.
  • Ability to treat subordinates equally without any discrimination.

  • Ensure availability of delegation of authority matrix to have sufficient delegations as per company policy.

  • Monitor the plan performance and initiate action to strengthen results and take the corrective action accordingly.
  • Provide periodic work progress reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets and expenses to achieve the optimum cost efficiency.

Organizational Development:

  • Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
  • Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

Business Process Improvements:

  • Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
  • Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
  • Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Information Mgmt. Sciences & Systems or Any relevant field
