Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer | Alfanar Building Systems

Job Purpose

Lead, manage, and technically guide the Mechanical BIM team to deliver coordinated, accurate, and high-quality BIM models and shop drawings for HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Medical Gas, and related mechanical systems. The role ensures compliance with project requirements, BIM standards, technical specifications, codes, coordination procedures, planned deliverables, and internal quality control requirements while supporting team productivity, issue resolution, and multidisciplinary coordination

Functional Responsibilities

Senior ship & Workload Management:

• Lead the Mechanical BIM team and allocate resources based on project priorities and delivery schedules.

• Monitor progress, identify risks, and escalate manpower, input, or schedule issues.

• Provide technical guidance and ensure compliance with BIM standards, workflows, and review procedures.

• Coordinate with management on priorities, staffing, and delivery risks.

BIM Modeling & Shop Drawing Delivery:

• Oversee Mechanical BIM model development and shop drawing production in accordance with project requirements.

• Ensure drawings, schedules, details, coordination outputs, and quantity take-offs are complete, coordinated, and submission-ready.

• Verify that design inputs, calculations, equipment selections, and installation requirements are accurately reflected.

• Control deliverable readiness prior to review and submission.

Technical Review & Quality Assurance:

• Conduct senior-level reviews of BIM models and shop drawings to ensure technical accuracy and quality.

• Verify compliance with project specifications, codes, BIM requirements, and authority regulations.

• Review constructability, maintainability, coordination clearances, and installation feasibility.

• Ensure effective revision control, documentation consistency, and lessons learned implementation.

BIM Coordination & Clash Management:

• Lead multidisciplinary coordination and clash resolution activities.

• Review clash reports, assign actions, and verify implementation of approved resolutions.

• Participate in coordination meetings and ensure timely closure of agreed actions.

• Support the delivery of coordination drawings and federated BIM models.

Planning, Reporting & Risk Management:

• Track deliverables against project schedules, dependencies, and submission targets.

• Prepare progress reports, issue logs, and risk summaries.

• Escalate risks related to delayed inputs, design gaps, repeated comments, or schedule constraints.

• Recommend corrective actions to minimize delays, rework, and cost impacts.

Stakeholder Communication:

• Coordinate with project stakeholders to resolve technical and coordination issues.

• Support preparation of technical responses, clarifications, and comment resolutions.

• Ensure all communications and changes follow approved project procedures.

• Provide management with concise status updates, key risks, and recommendations.
