Job Purpose
Creating and analyzing advanced structural systems for buildings and infrastructure to ensure safety, stability, and efficiency. Designing complex structural elements, assessing material performance and load conditions, and ensuring rigorous compliance with building codes and regulations. Collaborating with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate innovative structural solutions into comprehensive project plans.
Key Accountability Areas
Design and Analysis
- Develop and analyze sophisticated structural designs for buildings and infrastructure using advanced engineering principles and software.
- Perform comprehensive calculations to ensure structures can withstand loads and environmental factors, including wind, seismic activity, and snow.
- Select appropriate materials based on structural requirements, cost-effectiveness, and durability.
Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure all designs adhere to local, national, and international building codes and standards.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for construction and regulatory approval.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to integrate structural designs seamlessly with other project components.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources while communicating effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
Site and Construction Management
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with design specifications, and address emerging issues.
- Identify and resolve design issues or construction challenges by proposing effective, practical solutions.
Professional Development and Innovation
- Stay informed on industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies to enhance design practices and improve structural performance.
Required Skills
- Strong experience in the structural analysis and design of precast concrete structures.
- Strong knowledge of the design of precast elements, connections, and foundations.
- Strong experience in the structural design and analysis of aluminum façade systems.
- Good knowledge of steel structure and steel connection design.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, particularly ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, and Concise Beam.
- Strong ability to prepare and review structural calculations, design reports, and technical submissions.
- Good experience in Revit Structure, particularly for precast structures and structural coordination.
- Familiarity with relevant international codes and standards for precast concrete, aluminum, and steel design.
- Ability to coordinate structural design requirements with architectural, BIM, production, and site teams.
- Experience in reviewing structural drawings, shop drawings, and connection details.
