Credit Review Manager

Job Purpose

To lead the credit review function by assessing customer creditworthiness, monitoring credit exposures, identifying key risks, and ensuring compliance with the Company’s credit policies and risk appetite. Provides timely credit insights and recommendations to support effective risk management and informed business decisions.

Key Accountability Areas

Credit Review and Assessment:

  • Lead and oversee the credit review process for customer accounts in accordance with approved credit policies, procedures, and risk appetite.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of customer creditworthiness, financial position, payment performance, and overall credit exposure.
  • Assess the adequacy of credit facilities, limits, terms, and conditions and recommend appropriate actions based on identified risks.
  • Identify credit weaknesses, exceptions, and emerging risks and ensure timely escalation to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that credit reviews are conducted consistently, objectively, and within established timelines and standards.

Credit Governance and Risk Oversight:

  • Ensure credit review activities are aligned with the Company’s credit governance framework, risk appetite, and financial policies.
  • Monitor compliance with approved credit policies, procedures, delegated authorities, and credit approval requirements.
  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures for customers with elevated credit risk or deteriorating financial performance.
  • Provide oversight of credit risk exposures and highlight material risks and trends to senior management.
  • Support the continuous enhancement of credit review methodologies, controls, and processes.

Credit Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date credit information to support effective credit review, monitoring, and decision-making.
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of customer credit data and supporting documentation.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate records of credit reviews, findings, recommendations, and management actions.
  • Prepare periodic credit review and risk reports for management, highlighting key exposures, trends, exceptions, and areas requiring attention.
  • Provide management with relevant credit insights and recommendations to support informed credit risk decisions.

Stakeholder Management and Management Reporting:

  • Coordinate with relevant business, finance, collections, risk, and other stakeholders to obtain information required for effective credit reviews.
  • Communicate credit review findings, risk observations, and recommendations clearly to relevant stakeholders and management.
  • Follow up on agreed corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of identified credit risks and exceptions.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on significant credit review findings and portfolio developments.

  • Provide periodic work progress reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets and expenses to achieve the optimum cost efficiency.

Organizational Development:

  • Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
  • Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

Business Process Improvements:

  • Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
  • Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
  • Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance or Any relevant field
