Design Section Manager | Wooden Factory

Job Purpose

Lead and manage all technical activities related to wooden joinery products, ensuring accurate design development, shop drawings, engineering standards, manufacturability, material optimization, quality compliance, and successful project execution from concept through installation.

Functional Responsibilities

Technical Engineering Management

• Lead the technical office responsible for shop drawings, production drawings, and material specifications.
• Review and approve technical submittals, design details, and construction drawings.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards.
• Develop technical standards for joinery manufacturing and installation.

Design & Shop Drawings

• Supervise preparation of detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or related software.
• Coordinate design development with architects, consultants, and clients.
• Resolve design conflicts and technical issues before production.

Production Engineering

• Translate project requirements into production-ready manufacturing packages.
• Ensure production drawings support efficient manufacturing processes.
• Optimize material utilization and reduce waste.
• Support CNC programming and automated manufacturing processes

Project Technical Support

• Coordinate with Project Managers regarding technical requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
• Attend project coordination meetings with consultants and clients.
• Review variation orders and assess technical impact.

Factory & Installation Support

• Provide technical guidance to production and installation teams.
• Resolve complex manufacturing and site installation challenges.
• Support mock-up approvals and site inspections.

Continuous Improvement

• Introduce new joinery technologies, materials, fittings, and manufacturing methods.
• Improve engineering processes and drawing management systems.
• Drive cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.

• Responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets and expenses to achieve the optimum cost efficiency.

Organizational Development:

• Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
• Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

Business Process Improvements:

• Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
• Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
• Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.
