Job Purpose
The Civil Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing construction projects and infrastructure systems. This role involves working on various projects, from conceptual design to completion, ensuring that all work is completed according to technical specifications, regulatory standards, and project timelines.
Key Accountability Areas
- Design and Planning: Review detailed designs and plans for housing villas projects, including calculations, drawings, and specifications. Collaborate with architects, surveyors, and other engineers to create cohesive project plans.
- Site & contactors management: Supervise site activities and ensure compliance with project plans and safety regulations, Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure smooth progress and resolve on-site issues & Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed on time and to quality standards.
- Project Management: Manage and oversee all stages of civil engineering projects, from initial planning through to completion. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Construction Supervision: Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Address any issues that arise during construction and implement solutions.
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare cost estimates for upcoming activities, and cost monitoring for running activities, estimate and quantify required materials and prepare look a head plans.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in the project and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Ensure that all risk management practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Sustainability and Environmental Considerations: Incorporate sustainable design principles and consider environmental impacts in all project plans and decisions.
- Communication and Reporting: Prepare and present reports, proposals, and project updates to clients, stakeholders, and management. Maintain clear and effective communication with all parties involved in the project.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and review technical documentation, including design calculations, specifications, and reports. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineers, drafters, and project managers to ensure project success. Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
Role Accountability
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Typically requires 4-9 years of experience in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc), as well as familiarity with project management tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work, particularly in design and documentation.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently when required.
