Job Purpose
Managing and optimizing the procurement, inventory, and utilization of materials. Ensure that the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantities, to meet schedules while minimizing costs and waste. Analyzing demand forecasts and collaborating with related teams to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency.
Key Accountability Areas
Demand Forecasting:
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and sales forecasts to predict future material requirements.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and production teams to align material planning with business needs.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
- Implement inventory control measures to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
Supply Planning:
- Develop and manage supply plans to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to secure timely delivery of materials.
Order Management:
- Create and manage purchase orders based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
- Track order status and ensure timely receipt of materials.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Utilize data analysis tools to generate reports on inventory levels, order status, and material usage.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve material planning processes.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in material planning and inventory management.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into planning processes.
Problem-Solving:
- Address and resolve issues related to material shortages, excess inventory, or supply chain disruptions.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks associated with material supply.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other sections, such as procurement, production, and logistics, to ensure seamless material flow through the supply chain.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate material needs and address any issues.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to material handling and inventory management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all material planning activities.
