Job Purpose
To manage and execute the procurement of construction-related materials, equipment, and services in a cost-effective and timely manner, while ensuring alignment with project requirements, company standards, and contractual obligations.
Key Accountability Areas
- Review technical specifications, BOQs, and drawings to identify material requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors based on price, quality, delivery time, and compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare RFQs, analyze quotations, and negotiate commercial and technical terms with suppliers.
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs), ensuring accuracy of terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to align material deliveries with project schedules.
- Track and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues related to delays, quality, or documentation.
- Maintain vendor records, and all procurement-related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, project-specific requirements, and local/international procurement regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure long-term value and reliability.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, suggest alternate materials or sources, and support value engineering initiatives.
Role Accountability
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical) or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement experience in construction or contracting companies.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, specifications, and project cycles.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in procurement software (ERP systems such as SAP, etc.).
- Knowledge of local and international markets and vendors.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills
