Job Description: Testing Engineer for Rotating Equipment

Position Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Testing Engineer with expertise in rotating equipment, specifically motors and generators. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of various testing methodologies, instrument handling, report generation, and international standards related to electrical motors and generators. The Testing Engineer will be responsible for supervising, guiding, and executing testing activities at customer sites, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and providing technical guidance to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct various tests on motors & generators including tan delta, PD, DC tests, ELCID, RSO, and wedge tightness.
  2. Supervise and guide electrical and other tests of motors & generators at customer sites.
  3. Manage testing work and electrical activities related to service of medium and high voltage motors & generators during PM, erection, and commissioning.
  4. Provide technical advice and guidance to supervisors, foremen, and technicians.
  5. Manage workload in testing based on priority, risk, and customer requirements.
  6. Execute testing jobs based on international relevant standards applicable for electrical motors & generators.
  7. Attend customer sites for providing testing services and technical guidance during PM and erection and commissioning.
  8. Inspect the working of RTD’s, BTD’s, motors & generator auxiliaries during initial tests.
  9. Scrutinize electrical test reports, provide recommendations, and finalize repair scope with QA and Production.
  10. Assess no load and load run test parameters and provide technical guidance to clients based on test results.
  11. Ensure a safe working environment at the site and ensure adherence to all PPEs by technicians.
  12. Follow ATS occupational health and safety management system, its procedures, instructions, and policies.
  13. Knowledge of motors erection and commissioning electrical activities as per standard.
  14. Willingness to travel to sites frequently.
  15. Experience in motors and generator repair and overhauling services is an added advantage.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in testing motors and generators.
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, instruments, and report generation.
  • Familiarity with international standards applicable to electrical motors and generators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work at customer sites.
  • Experience in motors and generator repair and overhauling is a plus.
