Job Purpose

Lead and oversee material and production planning functions to ensure optimal resource utilization, inventory efficiency, and on-time delivery, while aligning operational plans with business objectives and driving continuous improvement.

Key Accountability Areas

Material Planning Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the development and implementation of material planning strategies aligned with business objectives and operational requirements.
  • Oversee the validation of material requirements based on sales forecasts, production plans, and inventory policies.
  • Ensure effective coordination with procurement to secure material availability in line with production and delivery commitments.
  • Establish and enforce planning standards, policies, and governance frameworks across the function.

Production Planning & Capacity Management

  • Direct the development and optimization of production plans to ensure efficient utilization of plant capacity and on-time delivery.
  • Oversee production scheduling activities, ensuring alignment with resource availability and operational priorities.
  • Monitor overall production performance, proactively addressing constraints, bottlenecks, and capacity risks.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance planning accuracy, scheduling efficiency, and throughput optimization.

Inventory Strategy & Control

  • Define and manage inventory strategies to maintain optimal stock levels across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Oversee inventory performance, ensuring alignment with working capital targets and service level requirements.
  • Approve and implement inventory optimization initiatives to reduce excess, obsolescence, and stockouts.
  • Ensure governance and accuracy of inventory data in coordination with warehouse and relevant stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Leadership & S&OP Alignment

  • Lead cross-functional coordination with sales, procurement, warehouse, production, and quality to ensure integrated planning.
  • Represent the function in S&OP processes, providing strategic input on capacity, material constraints, and demand-supply balancing.
  • Drive alignment between commercial forecasts and operational capabilities to support business growth and service levels.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Define and monitor KPIs related to material availability, production adherence, inventory health, and delivery performance.
  • Review performance trends and drive corrective actions to ensure achievement of operational and business targets.
  • Provide regular executive-level reporting, highlighting key risks, performance gaps, and improvement initiatives.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish proactive risk management practices to mitigate disruptions in material supply and production planning.
  • Lead root cause analysis for major planning and execution issues, ensuring sustainable corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and reliability.

  • Provide periodic work progress reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets and expenses to achieve the optimum cost efficiency.

Organizational Development:

  • Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
  • Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

Business Process Improvements:

  • Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
  • Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
  • Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
