R&D Section Manager, Cables Factory | alfanar Electric

Job Purpose

Coordinate and support research and development initiatives, contributing to innovation, product development, and technological advancements. Implement R&D strategies, assist in resource management, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to attain technical objectives, ensuring competitiveness and contributing to the overall growth and success.

Key Accountability Areas

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate actively with various factory departments, alfanar trading teams, and alfanar subsidiaries to ensure understanding and acceptance of project technical specifications.
  • Establish project goals and priorities in coordination with Marketing and Operations.
  • Conduct market intelligence to assess the competitiveness of our products in the Saudi and international markets.
  • Understand customer expectations for upcoming products and coordinate with different business units for necessary cooperation.

Innovation and Product Development:

  • Generate ideas for new product lines.
  • Collaborate with the team and other business units to explore patentable concepts and solutions.
  • Identify and implement improved technologies used by suppliers, competitors, and customers.

Project Management:

  • Manage the planning, implementation, completion, and documentation of engineering builds for industrialization.
  • Direct laboratory testing, analyze data, and create corrective action plans to address nonconformities revealed by testing.

Costing and Implementation:

  • Handle the costing of Ring Main Units, CPQ implementation for all MV products, and prequalification files.

Role Accountability

HR Proficiency:

  • Ability to recruit, recognize and cultivate high performers and expose them in order to create a robust second line of management.
  • Ability to recognize low performers and guide them to improve or release them.
  • Ability to treat subordinates equally without any discrimination.
  • Assessment criteria of subordinates is performance that leads to planned results.
  • Ensure availability of delegation of authority matrix to have sufficient delegations as per company policy.

Responsibility:

  • Must take full responsibility for his operation as per the job description and the required deliverables from this position, taking into consideration the general company guidelines.

  • Provide periodic work progress reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets and expenses to achieve the optimum cost efficiency.

Organizational Development:

  • Develop the organizational structure according to the current requirements taking into consideration future and development plans.
  • Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.

Business Process Improvements:

  • Develop, coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.
  • Should be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions especially those relevant to his job and business.
  • Promote the automated systems and using them fully, to spread its culture.

Quality:

Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
