Job Purpose
As a land surveyor your primary responsibility is to ensure accurate measurement, mapping, and documentation of the project site. You will work closely with the project team, including architects, engineers, and construction managers, to gather data and provide essential information for planning and executing the construction activities.
Key Accountability Areas
1. Site Surveying and Mapping:
· Conduct detailed surveys of the project site using various tools and instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers and levels.
· Establish control points and reference markers to guide the construction process.
· Measure and record precise dimensions, elevations, and contours of the land, structures, and utilities.
· Create accurate topographic maps, boundary surveys, and as-built drawings.
2. Data Collection and Analysis:
· Collect and organize relevant data, including existing structures, utilities, and environmental features.
· Analyze survey data to identify potential issues, constraints, and design conflicts.
· Collaborate with architects and engineers to provide necessary data for design development and decision-making.
3. Construction Layout:
· Assist in the layout of construction elements, such as foundations, columns, walls, and utilities, based on design plans and specifications.
· Ensure that the layout is precise and aligns with the approved designs.
· Monitor and verify the accuracy of the construction layout during the construction process.
4. Quality Control and Documentation:
· Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure that construction activities comply with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
· Document and maintain accurate records of survey data, measurement results, and construction progress.
· Prepare reports, drawings, and other deliverables as required by the project team.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
· Collaborate with the project team to understand project requirements and provide necessary surveying support.
· Coordinate with subcontractors and external surveying firms to ensure seamless integration of surveying activities.
· Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, architects, engineers, and regulatory authorities.
Role Accountability
- Diploma degree in Land Surveying.
- Proven experience as a surveyor in construction projects.
- Proficient in using surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and levels or laser scanners.
- Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, principles, and standards.
- Familiarity with CAD software and surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS).
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in survey measurements and data recording.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
