Job Purpose

A Senior Contracts Engineer in a construction company is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of contracts related to construction projects. This includes drafting, negotiating, managing, and ensuring compliance with all contractual agreements between the company and its clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. The Senior Contracts Engineer plays a crucial role in minimizing risks, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and supporting project delivery within budget and timelines.

Project Management Understanding

  • Knowledge of project management values.

Contract Management

  • Ability to manage multiple contracts with various customers and suppliers.
  • Capability to manage contract variations, amendments, and change orders.

Dispute Resolution

  • Ability to resolve disputes effectively between all involved parties.

Communication Skills

  • High communication skills to facilitate interactions between all parties.

Contract Drafting and Negotiation

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, and purchasing agreements.
  • Leading negotiations with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other involved parties.

Compliance and Standards

  • Ensuring all contractual terms and conditions comply with legal, company standards, and policies.

Bid and Proposal Evaluation

  • Evaluating bids and proposals received from contractors and suppliers.

Contract Performance Monitoring

  • Monitoring contract performance and addressing any deviations or issues promptly

Role Accountability

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Contracting monitoring experience over the construction and contracting companies not less than 5 years.
  • Professional certifications in contract management (CPCM) is preferable.
