Job Purpose
Responsible for designing and developing High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems and components, ensuring they meet technical, safety, and performance standards. This role involves creating detailed technical designs, conducting simulations and analyses, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and reliable HVDC solutions for power transmission projects. The focus is on ensuring that all designs are cost-effective, comply with regulatory requirements, and are optimized for operational efficiency and safety.
Key Accountability Areas
- Design Development: Create detailed electrical, mechanical, and control system designs for HVDC systems, including converters, transformers, control equipment, and protection systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.
- System Design and Analysis: Perform electrical and mechanical analyses to optimize HVDC system performance. Conduct simulations and tests to validate design concepts, ensuring that designs meet operational, performance, and safety requirements.
- Specification Development:Develop detailed technical specifications, drawings, and schematics for HVDC systems and components, ensuring designs are aligned with project requirements and operational goals.
- Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure that designs are feasible, meet client specifications, and align with overall project timelines and budgets.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all designs comply with national and international standards, regulations, and safety protocols for high-voltage systems, such as IEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
- Prototype Testing: Assist with prototype testing and system validation, analyzing test results to refine designs and ensure they meet operational expectations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design reports, test results, and design calculations. Provide clear and concise documentation to stakeholders to ensure transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize designs to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, ensuring the integration of the latest technologies and industry best practices.
- Support Installation and Commissioning: Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases of HVDC projects, ensuring the successful deployment of HVDC systems.
