Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the design and development of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, ensuring that all components and systems meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves leading a design team, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the seamless integration of HVDC components into reliable, cost-effective power transmission solutions. The focus is on delivering innovative, high-quality designs while maintaining project timelines and budget constraints.
Key Accountability Areas
Design Leadership:
Lead the technical design of HVDC systems.
Ensure designs align with project specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
Provide guidance to the design team on best practices and design methodologies.
System Integration:
Oversee the integration of HVDC components into cohesive, reliable systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration.
Ensure that all subsystems work together efficiently and meet overall system requirements.
Design Validation and Optimization:
Conduct simulations, calculations, and prototype testing to validate designs.
Drive optimization efforts to enhance system performance, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
Ensure designs are scalable, efficient, and adaptable to evolving project requirements.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and local codes (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ANSI).
Stay updated on emerging standards and technologies in HVDC.
Implement necessary adjustments to meet evolving compliance requirements.
Project Coordination:
Work with project managers to align design activities with project timelines and budgets.
Provide technical support during installation and commissioning to ensure design integrity.
Communicate design progress and any challenges to senior management and project stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation, including technical specifications and reports.
Provide clear and concise reports on design progress, testing, and project milestones.
Ensure all design decisions, changes, and approvals are well-documented and accessible.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential technical risks early in the design phase.
Develop contingency plans for unforeseen design challenges or technical setbacks.
Ensure that safety concerns and system reliability are prioritized in the design process.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of technological advancements and best practices in HVDC systems.
Promote innovation within the team by encouraging the exploration of new design concepts and solutions.
Lead efforts to continually improve design processes, tools, and methodologies.

- Ensure availability of job descriptions for all job roles and deployment.
